Prom. I feel as if this event might have a little excess of expectations of girls and who will be best dressed. So, i have a couple of tips from my experience i had while shopping for my prom dress! Good luck !
1.) Expectations: i know that most of us have thought of a shape, style or color of our dream dress, but doing so many have some disappointments when THE dress isn't found. this may make you not really appreciate whats in front of you while your are on the hunt ! Therefore, try going with a fresh open mind on all looks, you might be surprised in choosing something you never thought you would !
2.) Online Shopping: Okay, this is a huge one! I know that many dont have too much time to look around, don't want to go to the same location like others or might want a rocking sale from an online website but BE CAREFUL! Personally i almost fell into my first two warnings. I found my dream dress online so i had an expectation for a dress but i was also was almost willing to take the chance of buying it online. But luckily enough i got to go to Los Angeles to look for the dress at their shop. And to my surprise i was completely disappointing with the dress! Not only was it poorly made but the fabric was extremely cheap as well, and believe me you cant fool a designer ! Besides that the color was completely different, notice in the picture the bottom half is a soft tan while in real life it was a rough yellowish color... eww. So that goes to say, don't shop online and if so be very careful sometimes you might not even get a dress in them mail.
3.)Try new things: After my dissapointment of a dream dress i had no other option of trying other styles. Now i tried this one, but i have a HUGE prediction that many will use the mermaid style so even though i liked it i chose to stay away from it, and it wasn't my fav. But at least i tried!
4.) Find that diamond in the rough! : Okay so even though this is not the dress i purchased it was my favorite! I was looking for more of a gala dress than a prom dress i feel that it would stand out more, and this was it! It was absolutly gorgeous and it fit my body perfectly. Note: not the white one it was too tight i went from a 00 to a 6, and the 6 was perfect.
5.) Price: this is the best one! Now if you have the money and don't mind going all out i would say go for it but just remember you might only wear it once. This dress was $599, but being a sales rep myself i was getting an offer for $480! i know thats great right! Still. i wanted it for only $400, that was the most i was willing to pay for a dress and i still felt it was pushing it a little. But i didn't get my way on this one so i decided to walk away even though i loved it. Maybe ill find it later for a bigger occasion! Overall my biggest tip on price is always!always! fight for a better price they want to sell it, you want to buy and believe they wont loose a sale for a couple of bucks you could use on buying your shoes!
6.) Color: Now the top dress was the one i loved but ones i tried it in grey i knew that was it! i felt it looked better in the style. The dress wasn't wearing ME like the white one, I was wearing the dress! Plus i loved the velvet fabric i felt it made it even more unique! So dont be stubborn on a color ! Try others, they might look better with your skin tone or over all in the that style !
As a wrap! Im glad to say i love my dress and cant wait for you guys to see it! and no. its neither of these so just wait for it ! And while your shopping think about these tips they might help you choose the right one ! Good luck fashionistas! -Enjoy XOXO Lili Brito
